SFI Hotline

sfi_hotline_fullCall the Hotline at 1-706-542-2430
SFI sponsors a “hotline” number for reporting practices that are inconsistent with SFI program goals. The SFI Implementation Committee works with state agencies to address any public concerns about forestry practices.

A Focus on Continuous Improvement
Continual improvement is an important part of the SFI® program. Although we try to monitor all of our practices, we know that there’s always room for improvement. The Georgia SFI Implementation Committee (SIC) wants to hear from you if you see site-specific practices that seem to be inconsistent with SFI principles, particularly as it relates to:

  • Reforestation
  • Water Quality
  • Soil Quality

The SFI Standard calls for prompt reforestation, harvest size limits and protection of wildlife, water quality and special sites on SFI participant lands. Compliance with forestry Best Management Practices designed to protect water quality are also critical. Some areas that should be carefully considered are:

  • Stream crossings
  • Forest road construction
  • Maintenance of buffer zones along streams and rivers
  • Clean-up of trash or debris
